App vs Browser

Real application or browser-based solution?

With 360 Business Tool, you get a real Windows app with data and setup located in the cloud.

The advantages of using a real application rather than a browser-based solution are many, including:

  • The speed is much, much faster. No waiting times and hourglasses
  • Full integration to other programs on your machine (Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.)
  • Client integrations work more smoothly. For example, drag & drop of documents and emails, generation of PDF files, use of Word, Excel and Outlook templates
  • You can have an infinite number of windows open at the same time
  • Shortcut keys, building menus, switching between windows, etc. work as you are used to from the rest of your programs
  • Possibility of customer-specific integrations

However, there are also a few disadvantages:

  • The first time an application must be installed(*)
  • Requires a Windows machine(**)

By delivering 360 as an application, we have 100% control (and responsibility) for the security, user experience and functionality. There is nothing that stops working when Microsoft/Google sends out an update, and nothing with “This feature only works in Chrome” or “Try clearing your browser history and try again”.

When choosing between an application and a browser-based solution, consider how often you will use it. Is it something you have to use every day or is it just a rare occasion? If you use it every day, the 2-minute installation is no problem, when in return you get a much better user experience every time you use the application.

Think, for example on these examples:

  • Have you installed the Facebook application on your phone or do you just use the phone’s browser
  • Have you installed Outlook on your PC or are you using the web version?
  • Do you use Excel or is Google Sheets good enough?
  • Do you have a PDF reader installed or do you just use Edge/Chrome

Real apps for mobile phones and tablets

Just as we have chosen to make a real Windows application for your PC, we have also chosen to make one range of apps that run on iPhones and Android devices. That way, you get the optimal user experience, both when you use your PC and when you’re on the move.

(*) The installation of the 360 Business Tool is quite simple. You can either use Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive or download the application directly from us. The first time you enter your username and password – and then you’re up and running. Our supporters are ready by the phone to help you. If you are unsure about something, we can remotely operate your computer and do it for you – at no extra charge!

(**) If you do not use Windows, we can help you set up a remote desktop solution, which means that the program can also run on Mac, Linux or something else. The user experience is not quite as optimal as on a real Windows machine, but works absolutely fine enough that it can be used by your employees who are not WIndows users.
